Drills – Selection, Checking and Inspection

Selecting and specifying drill sizes; checking drill size with Standard Drill Size tables and drill gauges; basic drill nomenclature; inspecting and checking the drill point for lip clearance, equal lip angles and equal lip lengths, and oversize and bell-mouthed holes; and how to use the drill point gauge to check lip angles and measure lip length. A panel kit should be provided by the supervisor for use with the course. Contents of the kit are listed in “Notes to Instructor” in the course itself.

Prerequisites: Ability to read simple drawings and sketches.
