Identification and operating sequence of the basic parts of a reciprocating compressor; name, purpose and airflow for each piece of equipment in a reciprocating compressor system; lubricated and non-lubricated compressors; drain traps; regulation of compressor capacity by inlet valve lifters and cylinder clearance pockets; compressor start-up procedure; operating observations; and compressor shutdown procedure.
Prerequisites - Knowledge of the fundamental principles of compressed air systems (Course Number 129).
