Scale terms, baths, standards, and calibration; the two fundamental fixed points, scale division, true value, and indicated value; scale terms such as scale accuracy, sensitivity, and reproducibility; U.S. Bureau of Standards, reference standard (certified thermometers), working standard, and sensitivity; scale corrections; calibration baths such as dry ice, ice, water, steam, oil, and salt; and calibration of a glass thermometer, industrial thermometer, and bimetal thermometer.

Prerequisites - Basic knowledge of heat, temperature (Course Number 38), compensation, scale conversions (Centigrade, Fahrenheit, Absolute) (Course Number 39), and common thermometers (glass, bimetal, filled thermal systems) (Course Number 40).
