Section A: Use of the "invisible box" method of showing simple offset
dimensions on isometric single-line piping drawings. Standard pipe fitting
handbook tables to find the set, run, and travel measurements for the common
offset fitting angles. Calculation of cut lengths of pipe to make simple
offsets using screwed, flanged, and welding fittings. This section is 6 hours of
instruction.
Section B: Use of the "invisible box" method of showing rolling offset
dimensions on single-line piping drawings. Pipe fitting handbook tables and the
"steel square" to calculate and lay out the set, run, roll, and travel
measurements using the common angular fittings. Calculation of cut lengths of
pipe to make common rolling offsets from screwed, flanged, and welding
fittings. This section is 9 hours of instruction.
Section C: Several practice problems using two-pipe equal-spread offsets and
offsets around common field obstructions. Simple pipe fitting handbook formulas
are used in the solution of practical field problems using simple offsets. This
section is 5 hours of instruction.
The ability to use whole numbers (Course Number 29),
fractions (Course Number 30), and decimals (Course
Number 60), read simple single
line piping drawings, and use pipefitting handbook tables (Course
Number 9).
