Section A: Interpretation of orthographic and isometric single-line piping
drawings. Use of pipe and fitting symbols for threaded, flanged, and welded
piping systems. Use of dimensions to locate pipe and fittings on drawings. This
section is 10 hours of instruction.
Section B: Calculation of the cut lengths of threaded pipe required to
fabricate systems made with screwed fittings and flanges. Use of pipe fitting
handbook tables to determine screwed fitting and flange allowances. This section
is 10 hours of instruction.
Section C: Calculation of the cut lengths of pipe necessary to make piping
arrangements made with butt-and-socket welding fittings and weld neck, slip-on,
and lap-joint or Van Stone flanges. Use of pipe fitting handbook tables to
determine butt-and-socket weld allowances and welding fitting and flange
allowances. This section is 16 hours of instruction.
Prerequisites - Ability to use whole numbers (Course
Number 29), fractions (Course Number 30), and decimals
(Course Number 60) in arithmetical
operations; and the ability to identify common fittings and pipe schedules (Course
Number 8).
